Africa Centre is dedicated to the integration of the African community in Ireland. This is reflected in the wide range of activities and initiatives that take place at the Centre. We work to ensure that racist incidents do not go undocumented, to promote civic participation, create an awareness of issues effecting African’s in Ireland and providing a platform on which these issues may be discussed and addressed, and to confront the need for effective multiple ‘African Perspectives’ in Development Education in Ireland. The Centre conducts research and provides resources and lectures to help promote this multiple perspectives education. The Africa Centre has also recently created a new group for young people, the Intercultural Youth Society (IYS), which seeks to bring youth from diverse backgrounds together to discuss issues that affect them, plan activities to get to know each other and work towards their own meaningful integration in all sectors of Irish society.
